EXPERIENCE

CTCU

With classes complete I am now able to use what I have learned and experienced.  Previously, I had never envisioned myself working at a financial institution; however, working with a great and supportive team made the transition seamless.

2015 - 2016

Support Roles

Tyler Junior College

While attending TJC I held two part-time positions and an IT Internship.  The combination of the three ensured that I used my skills regularly, and helped pass that knowledge on to other students working in the same position.

2006 - 2014

Military

U.S. Army: Signal Corps

Using the troubleshooting skills and knowledge of computers that I had gained while working in retail helped with training.  The Army expanded my computer skills to include Active Directory, and Cisco Routing and Switching.  Additional duties outside my field of specialty ensured that I remained flexible.

2001 - 2006

Retail

Toy-rrific

I learned the basics of customer service as a sales associate for a local retailer that specialized in collectibles, video games, and toys.  Later, we sold cellular plans for four Nationwide Service Providers.  Activating cellular plans as an indirect dealer gave me new insight as to how that industry operates.

Network Engineer - Tyler Junior College

Having worked with Cisco equipment while in the Military, I decided to pursue an additional Associate Degree at TJC.  I ended up purchasing Cisco Lab equipment near the end of the course to continue my studies once the classes were complete.

2014-2016

Associates of Applied Science

Systems Administration - Tyler Junior College

My primary focus after leaving the Military was the Microsoft Active Directory environment.  Utilizing prior knowledge and experiences I completed my first Associates Degree at TJC.

2006-2014

U.S. ARMY

Signal Corps (25U)

Enlisted as a 25U Signal Support Specialist I attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia.  After earning Distinguished Graduate I was then transferred to the 268th Network Support Company (Signal Company) with the 504th MI BDE (formerly BfSB).

Leaders Eat Last

By: Simon Sinek

Productivity does not always follow monetary incentivisation.  The author challenges popular sentiment that more pay equals increased productivity.  Instead, offering create an environment that fosters trust and cooperation; will, in turn create stable, adaptive, and confident teams.

The Shock Doctrine

By: Naomi Klein
Gain a different perspective on what it takes to make a truly "free market" work, and take a peek at a new form of Capitalism on the horizon.  The rise of "Disaster Capitalism" challenges many popular beliefs, and illustrates a grim future where economic policies exploit crisis and disaster.

Captive Audience

By: Susan P. Crawford
Just 15 years ago the dot com boom had ended; however, the United States had the fastest internet speeds with the lowest prices in the world.  It was claimed that competition and innovation would continue with Mega Mergers.  A must read for those on either side of the net-neutrality debate.
